Installation FAQ

You’ll probably have a few questions to ask before the carpet installers arrive. We hope that this list of frequently asked questions will help make your carpet installation go smoothly and with as little inconvenience as possible.
What about my old carpeting?

We will remove your old carpeting, and we can dispose of it for an additional fee. As part of our service, we will prepare subfloor surfaces as well. If, however, your subfloors are damaged, you may need additional services to repair the subfloors before we can complete your installation.

It can. If you vacuum your old carpeting the night before or morning of your installation, it can reduce the amount of airborne dust and dirt that can escape into your living quarters.

The strong smell associated with new carpeting typically fades in a few days. To help the process along, open windows and doors or use a fan to increase airflow and keep an adequate supply of fresh air moving through your living quarters.

Carpet wrinkling (which looks like ripples or waves in your carpet) is fairly common and can happen months or years after carpeting is installed. If necessary, we can restretch your carpet for an additional fee.

In the months following installation, you may notice a number of changes in your carpeting. This may include shedding (where you see loose fibers), sprouting (where you see single tufts of carpet that extend past the carpet’s uniform surface), and pile reversal or shading (where color may seem to change depending on which way carpet fibers are bent). All of these changes are relatively normal and will not affect the quality, longevity or overall beauty of your carpeting.
